Velma Bartlett Moore

Funeral services for Velma Bartlett Moore, 87, of Rosenberg, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 9, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Rosenberg with Pastor Zach Nicholson officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Velma was born September 15, 1923 in Clarksville to James Franklin Bartlett and Mary Frances Eve Cagle Bartlett. Being the youngest of ten brothers and sisters, she was always at ease in a crowd and never met a stranger. She accompanied her husband on many moves in his career until they planted themselves in Rosenberg to nurture their family, where they have lived for 50 years. Velma devoted herself to her family until she opened Lollipop Kindergarten with a family friend and then moved into the public school where she poured her life into teaching and loving elementary school children for many years. Velmas zest for life spilled over into the lives of her honey the love of her life and her children, extended family and friends. She always challenged and encouraged those around her to do and be their best, and her energy would often be the catalyst for others success. Velma and Don were always inseparable and spent many active so-called retirement years in various activities ranging from the Golden Heir traveling Choir to wearing special vests that marked them as volunteers at the hospital, sharing smiles and warm greetings to anyone who crossed their paths. Velma loved her church and was a member of First Baptist Church of Rosenberg. Velma passed away June 6, 2011 in Richmond. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald Warren Moore, Sr.; children, Kathy Williams and husband, Charles, Donald Moore, Jr. and wife, Linda, David Moore and wife, Janet, and Terri Anigian and husband, Rick; grandchildren, Steven and Brian Williams, Stacey Thomas, and husband, Trey, Erin Gilliland and husband, Paul, and Kendall, Hayden and Jordan Anigian; great grandchildren, Liam and Sydney Thomas; along with other relatives and many friends.
