Timothy Wayne Pokluda

Funeral services for Timothy Pokluda, age 63, will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, TX. A brief visitation will take place before the service beginning at 11 AM. Timothy Wayne Pokluda was born October 1956 in Rosenberg, Texas to Clevourne and Viola (Sliva) Pokluda. He was raised in Rosenberg, TX and was a graduate of Lamar High School. Growing up, Tim worked alongside his sister, Cynthia, and parents on the family farm. On weekends, they often helped on their Grandpa Sliva’s farm where they also enjoyed ice cream that was always stocked and sneaking orange soda. Tim worked at Nalco for 38 years holding many positions and making lifelong friends. Shortly after retirement, he worked part-time at Napa and enjoyed sharing his expertise of all things cars and repair. His last several working years were spent detailing his yard, tending his cows and enjoying the rewards of his hardworking lifetime. Some may have thought Tim to be a prideful man but in reality he just understood he was always right and had planned one step ahead. Tim enjoyed cooking good barbecue, watching old westerns, driving his self-built ‘55 Chevy, taking care of his yard, antiques and having a beer with good friends and family. Tim’s cows were his pride and joy. They were well cared for and a purposefully uniform herd who never offered an opinion and let Tim be the boss. Time with his grandkids was particularly valuable. Every lawnmower ride, story book read and chair time spent was priceless. In his last months, Tim was asked what he enjoyed most in life. His answer was sitting under his shade trees looking out at his yard, pasture and cows. In his last moments, he was able to look at a large poster of exactly that view in complete peace. Tim is a difficult man to summarize but in an attempt, he was ever attentive to detail, always planning ahead, loved quietly but with great strength, was a loyal friend, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and hardworking man who always finished the job. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and never hesitated to help those who needed him. His time on this earth was cut short and he will be missed by many. Tim passed away February 26, 2020 after a lengthy battle with cancer at his daughter Brenda’s home in College Station, TX. He fought his battle with great strength and passed away peacefully with family holding his hand. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He leaves behind his daughter, Jennifer Shahry (Ali) of Cedar Park, TX, daughter, Brenda Hancock (Beth) of College Station,TX, son Craig Pokluda (Skylar) of Hewett, TX; sister, Cynthia Holt; grandchildren, Ariana Shahry, Zoe Shahry, Wilder Pokluda and Rawley Pokluda; nephews Justin Holt and Gordon Holt; niece, Amber Holt as well as numerous extended family and friends. Tim was truly thankful for every visit, call and text during his illness. His family sincerely thanks each of you. Pallbearers will include Justin Holt, Gordon Holt, Frankie Kolafa, Joe Matthews, Chris Kopycinski, Greg Kopycinski. Honorary Pallbearer will be Nick Aber.
