Sally Teykl Anderson

Sally Teykl Anderson, 84, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, in Houston. She was born May 17, 1940, in Needville, Texas, to Louis and Opal Teykl. Sally grew up attending Needville schools where she liked to say that “everybody knew everybody, and everybody was friends,” which is just how she believed things should be. Sally was a real firecracker! Her red hair matched her fiery personality, and she had a radiant smile. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing, especially showing her younger brother Louis how to jitterbug. In 1958, Sally moved to Houston to pursue her career, where she met her husband-to-be, Buddy. They married in 1964 and moved to Richmond, Texas, where they happily remained until their deaths. Sally and Buddy had one daughter, Rhonda, who was the joy of their life. Sally and Rhonda were always extremely close and never went more than a few days without seeing each other. In fact, they still had morning coffee and evening supper together several days a week. Growing up, Rhonda’s friends always enjoyed visits to her house so they could be entertained by her lively mother whom everyone adored. Sally also had a special bond with her only grandchild – Rhonda’s daughter Savannah. Savannah tragically passed away in 2019, but we can now take comfort in knowing that she and Sally are together, undoubtedly laughing and spreading joy in Heaven. Sally worked as an insurance adjuster for Prudential Insurance Company for 30 years until retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Needville where she had many friends and loved to sing in the choir. Survivors include her daughter Rhonda Beth Rainey, brother Louis Teykl and wife Brenda, numerous nieces and nephews and church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buddy Anderson, granddaughter Savannah Beth Rainey, brother Donald Hugh Teykl and wife Vallie, sister Iris Nell Duesterhoft and husband Gilbert. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Needville at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mark Plunkett and Rev. Nora Fitch presiding. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.
