Robert Thomas Vitek

Robert Thomas Vitek was born on May 9, 1947, to parents Frank and Roma Vitek, in Rosebud, Texas. He passed away on July 2, 2026, at the age of 79. He spent his early childhood on the family farm, which is where he learned the importance of family and the value of hard work. This is also where he gained a love of the outdoors. The Viteks later moved to Clodine, Texas before settling in Rosenberg, which remained Robert’s home for the rest of his days. After graduating from Lamar Consolidated High School in 1965, he attended Texas A&M University until 1969, and he forever carried the Spirit of Aggieland in his heart. Robert had a strong work ethic that was rivaled by few others. After losing his father as a young teen, he got a job at age 14 to help support the family, and he never stopped working until his last employer closed the business in November of 2025. He became a civil construction estimator at R.B. Little Construction in the 1970’s, and he took great pride in his work and in sharing the breadth of knowledge he gained over his 55-year career. Robert spent much of his free time outdoors, fishing at Lake Conroe, game hunting in Damon, and later raising cattle at the farm near Caldwell, which was his second home. He carried on the traditions of his grandparents by processing his own beef and making venison sausage, and he took pride in passing those traditions on to his own family. Robert also loved to cook and did not know how to make a small meal. Whether it was smoking a brisket at the farm, making gingerbread cookies at Christmas, or putting on a fish fry at family reunions, feeding his friends and family gave him great joy. His faith in God gave him strength, and he was a devoted member of the Chriesman Methodist Church. Robert was preceded in death by his wife Ginger Vitek and his parents Frank Vitek and Roma Cannon. He is survived by his daughter Robin Vitek and husband David Smith, stepson Lee Wehring and wife Cam, stepdaughter Cindy Musslewhite and husband Glenn, and stepgrandsons Kyle Wehring, Jacob Wehring, Brian Musslewhite, and Craig Musslewhite. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas from 5-7 pm on Thursday, July 9. The service will take place at 10 am on Friday, July 10 with additional visitation the hour before. Burial to follow immediately after the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Glenn Musslewhite, David Bailey, David Smith, Kyle Wehring, Jacob Wehring, Brian Musslewhite, Craig Muslewhite, and Frank Harris.
