Robert M. Cortez, Sr.

Funeral services for Robert M. Cortez, Sr., 79, of Rosenberg, will be held at 1:00 P. M., Saturday, February 17, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg. Interment will follow in W.O.W. Cemetery in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P. M. until 9:00 P. M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P. M., Friday, February 16, 2007, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Robert was born April 18, 1927 in Needville, Texas to Sabas Cortez, Sr. and Martina Ventura Cortez. He was a former Director of the Parks and Recreation Department with the City of Rosenberg and a former Director for Housing and Urban Development. He is better known as a self-employed merchant and prosperous farmer and rancher in the Rosenberg area for well over 50 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rosenberg. Robert passed away February 13, 2007 in Houston, Texas. He was a humble man of God, a man of faith, and a great example to all. To God he gave his glory, to his wife he gave his love, to his children he gave without end. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Sabas Sr. and Martina Cortez; son, Ismael Cortez; brothers, Rigoberto Cortez and Paul Cortez, Sr.; granddaughter, Amanda Cortez; and sister, Elvira Cortez Vargas. He is survived by his wife, Amparo P. Cortez of Rosenberg; Sons: Robert Cortez, Jr. and wife, Elsa, of Rosenberg, Sabas Cortez, III and wife, Lauren, of Rosenberg, Pedro Cortez of Rosenberg; Daughter: Darlene Cortez of Rosenberg; Grancdhildren: Tiffani Cortez, Kristie Cortez, Rebecca Cortez, Chelsea Cortez, Nikki Cortez, Robert Cortez, III, Christopher Cortez, Bridgette Cortez, Sabas Cortez, IV; along with other family members and many friends. Pallbearers will include Tiffani Cortez, Kristie Cortez, Rebecca Cortez, Chelsea Cortez, Nikki Cortez, Robert Cortez, III, Christopher Cortez and Sean Conwell. Honorary Pallbearers will include Sabas Cortez, IV and Bridgette Cortez.
