Mike A. Torres A funeral mass will be held for Mike A. Torres, 82, of Richmond, Texas at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at San Gabriel Cemetery in Richmond. Father William Bartniski will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Mike was born to Ernest and Frances Torres on January 19, 1930 in Richmond and was raised in the Rosenberg-Richmond area. Growing up, he loved working with his father in agriculture. His father taught him to have a great work ethic, along with honesty and integrity. His parents also taught him to have great faith and to be a faithful and honorable man. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Ramona, and were inseparable for 63 wonderful years. Mike worked for 15 years as a cattle rancher for the WW Fondren's in Houston. In 1965, he had a house built for his family in Richmond where he lived the rest of his life. He also worked for Anderson Clayton Cottonseed Oil Mill as a supervisor for 30 years until he retired in 1995. Mike loved his family and brothers and was the oldest of 9 brothers and 1 sister. He passed away October 22, 2012 at his residence in Richmond surrounded by his loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Torres and Frances Alonzo; brothers, Philip, Tony, Larry, Pete, Carlos and Frank Torres; sister, Suzie Garza; son-in-law, John Torres; and grandsons, Jason Torres and Angel Gutierrez. Mike is lovingly survived by his wife, Ramona Torres; daughters, Helen Torres, Nora Torres, Ester Mata and husband, Roy and Linda Gutierrez and husband, Daniel; son, Rudy Torres and wife, Melissa; 18 grandchildren: Beverly Waddle and husband, Stephen, Johnny and Kathy Torres, Aaron and Valerie Torres, Mark and Alma Torres, Michael Torres, Melissa and Alyss Mata, Jacob and Whitney Mata, Brian and Morgan Gutierrez, Cory and Danielle Gutierrez, Christopher, Brandon and Matthew Torres, Brandy and Nester Esquivel, Christopher Bauman, and Dayvid Bauman; 16 great grandchildren: Ashton and Michael Waddle, Crystal Gordon and husband, Scott, Timothy, Lexie and Cody Torres, Matthew, Emily, Jose and Fernando Torres, Maize and Eva Mata, Olivia Gutierrez, CJ, Aubrie and Jasmine Torres; great-great grandchildren, Jade, Jax and Gabby Gordon and brothers, Lupe Torres and John Torres. Pallbearers will be Johnny Torres, Aaron Torres, Mark Torres, Michael Torres, Brian Gutierrez, Cory Gutierrez, Jacob Mata and Brandon Torres.
