Marie Restivo Triola

Marie Restivo Triola, was born January 17, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri to Nick and Vita Restivo. Marie grew up during the “Great Depression”. When her father was drafted at the age of 40 years old, she along with her two siblings helped her mother run the family grocery store. Marie attended Lamar High School and was Valedictorian of her class, receiving a scholarship to Rice University. Not long after enrolling, she met the love of her life, Joseph Michael Triola. They were married for thirty-two wonderful years and together they raised four children. When a career in nursing presented itself, Marie hopped on board and found herself in a new career that she loved. Her love of people and helping humanity in nursing filled her life for fifty years. Widowed at fifty-two years old and with her adult children off to raise their own families, she moved in with her elderly parents taking care of them until their passing and still working at what she loved. Nursing brought many patients who grew to love her as “their nurse” and she took interest in them as if they were her own family. Marie joined the church singles group, made many close friends and traveled the world. She decided to retire in 2013 at the age of eighty-three, moved in with her youngest daughter and together they joined Theresian’s Catholic Women’s Prayer Community. Marie was deeply devoted to the Rosary, daily Mass and loved watching Mother Angelica and Hallmark movies. Retirement also meant time to enjoy her four children, twelve grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren that made her legacy. She enjoyed her “mini get-aways” by spending time with each family and enjoying her newfound freedom. Sadly, in 2018 Marie’s health began to decline after she sustained a serious fall. Throughout many complications and health challenges, she put up a courageous fight to manage each day the best she could. On November 18, 2022 Marie left her loving family to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, reunited with God, and all our loved ones she has dearly missed. She left a legacy for us all, with her compassionate, loving, caring, kind, adventurous, witty, intelligent, generous heart. Although our hearts are broken, we rejoice that she is no longer suffering and lives in eternity with our Lord. Marie’s children would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Residence of Riverpark West, her loving caregivers, Vivianne, Natalie and Cindy, as well as Inhabit Hospice nurses, for caring for our mother with so much compassion and love for the past 2 years.
