Lloyd Byrd Quinby II

Lloyd Byrd Quinby II was born June 24, 1944, in Houston, Texas to Ethel and Lloyd Quinby I. Skip, as he is best known, was the youngest of two children. He attended Houston Independent School and graduated from Reagan High School. As a child, he learned to hunt and fish. These became his real passion. After high school, Skip worked at various jobs until he went to work for Gerber Foods where he remained until retirement. He married Jeannine Gauthier and they had two children, Kenneth and Andrea. Skip married Mary Stephney in 2001 and they had 24 wonderful years together until he departed this life. He discovered his love for travel with his life mate, Mary. They enjoyed many adventurous years of travel locally and internationally. After retirement, because of his great love for the outdoors and especially fishing, he purchased his own fishing boat and began chartering deep sea fishing trips. He continued the charter fishing until it became too much for him. Skip loved everything about outdoor sports, not only fishing but also hunting. Each deer hunting season, you could find him out hunting. He not only hunted deer but anything else that was in season. He was very good at both hunting and fishing so he purchased a separate freezer to hold it all. He was also generous at sharing. When he could no longer do charter fishing, He found another passion for gardening. Due to his love for the outdoors, he had a year-round garden, in which he built his compost bin, put in place its irrigation system, and planted enough to be able to share and preserve. Whatever Skip did he did it with skill and excellence. He was a man of many talents. He departed this life Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11:29 am. He was preceded in death by both parents and his son, Kenneth Quinby. Skip had accepted Christ before his death. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memories, his spouse, Mary Stephney Quinby, his daughter, Andrea Scott (Brandon Scott) son-in-law), sister, Joan Wilson, and Step-children, Raymond Stephney, Angela Roundtree (James Roundtree), Brent Stephney (Kenetta Stephney), and Bridget Stephney. He has a host of grandchildren, Brooke Sandoval(Alexandra), Raymond Stephney IV, Joshua Stephney, Mackenzie Stephney, Gabrielle Stephney, Jalyn Roundtree, Deisha Roundtree and three great grand-children, A.J., Maliyah, and a host of nieces and nephews.
