Linda Carol Wendt Kana

Linda Carol Wendt Kana, 66, of Needville, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sugar Land. She was born on March 5, 1949 in El Campo to the late Emil and Georgia Sciba Wendt. Linda started her teaching career in 1972, having taught in various schools from El Campo, West and Loraine, Texas to Terry and Needville High School locally. After she retired with a love of teaching, she continued to substitute for 15 more years. She was an excellent math teacher, while providing a positive influence to her students' lives. Linda was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville where she was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters. She loved spending time with her family and friends along with working out in her yard and garden. Linda's personal favorite was taking a trip to Coushatta with her husband to play the slot machines. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she would do anything for them. She made sure to attend all of her grandchildrens' events. Linda was a loving wife for 42 years. Most of all, she was a loving mother who always put her two sons and daughter-in-law first and looked after them. This loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend will be missed. Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Daniel Kana; son, Jeff Kana, son, Tim Kana and wife, Tiffany; grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey, Ty and Taylor; siblings, Georgia "Tootsie" Carson, Jeanette Parker and husband, Arnold, Mary Ann Derrich and husband, Edwin, Tommy Wendt and wife, Jeanna, and Suzanne Leopold; along with numerous extended family and a host of friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery in El Campo. Pallbearers will include Keith Parker, Kenneth Parker, Paul Derrich, Clint Leopold, Ryan Wendt, and Ty Kana. Honorary pallbearers will include Arnold Parker, Edwin Derrich, Tommy Wendt, Lewis Kirking, Jim Carson, Chuck Bledsoe, David Trudo, Doug Linley, Blaise Murray, Tim Whitt, Randy Hudgeons, Dusty Leopold, Eric Wendt, and Cameron Wendt.
