Leonel R. Salazar ‘When He had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.’ John 19:30 Leonel Salazar's journey began in the small town of Premont, Texas in 1928. On November 12, 2017 in Richmond, Texas, he began his eternal life with his Heavenly Father. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Dora, and their children, Homer and Mercedes Salazar, Roland and Joani Salazar, Mark and Diane Salazar Tomlinson, and Lee and Yvonne Salazar Swain. Leonel was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Vanessa, Alexandra, Andrew, Juliet, Taylor, Jimi, Paige, Heston, Mason, Hunter, and Cateche; and eight great grandchildren; all of which held a special place in his heart and gave him immense joy, in particular, Cateche, who sadly, preceded him in death. He was her back-up singer and there is no doubt that she will be excited to see her Grandpa once again. Leonel is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. He will be dearly missed by his sisters, Alma Salazar of Premont and Maria Richardson of Austin, Texas. As a United States Army Sergeant, Leonel served his country in the Korean War and was employed for over 50 years by Dr. Hampton Robinson and several generations of the family. Our father enjoyed the outdoors and ranching. He loved sitting on the front porch where he drank his coffee and viewed his cattle and donkeys! Everyone who met our Dad, loved him. He was a kind and honest person you wanted to call "friend." Dad would always say, "God willing..." and God's will was to take him home. He taught us to put God first, respect our elders, and to save a dollar. My mother was proud to call him her husband for 63 years and we are extremely proud to call him our father.
