Kirby Gene Krancher

Kirby Gene Krancher, 78, of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away on June 25, 2026. He was born on October 12, 1947, in Bellville, Texas, to Leslie F. Krancher and Hilda (Brast) Grayless. Kirby honorably served his country in the U.S. Army before beginning a career with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), where he retired after more than 35+ years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Rosenberg. Kirby found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed reading the Fort Bend Herald from front to back, spending time outdoors, taking camping trips, and fishing with his brother. He loved family get togethers and especially eating Mexican food with tons of chips and salsa. Above all, he was devoted to his family. His love, kindness, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Kirby was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Lee Krancher, and his sister, Bonnie Ann Krancher Marek. He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 52 years, Carolyn D. (Cox) Krancher; his daughters, Melissa Kay Krancher (Felipe Cruz), Karla Renea Mejia (Juan), and Kayla Denea Ralston (Seth); his brother, Les Krancher (Charlene Vyvial); and his sister, Linda Heintz. Kirby was a proud "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren: Jonathan Lee Cruz (Diana Lagunas), Steven Lee Cruz (Katherine Morales), Gabriela Cruz (Edilson Merlos), Tyler Anthony Krancher (Olivia Samantha Grider), Garrett Anthony Mejia, Addison Mae Ralston, Tristan Hawk Ralston, and Everett Puller Ralston. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Brother Donnie Melton will officiate the services. In keeping with Kirby's easygoing nature, the family kindly requests that those attending dress casually.
