Helen Allene Marshall

Helen Allene Marshall, 85, went to our Lords’ Holy choir on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. Helen was the daughter of Elva Marie and Gilbert Spivak. She was born in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Brackenridge High School. She was a member of The Purple Jacket Pep Squad at her school. She was also a member of the Miss Fiesta Court and rode in the parade for the festival in her senior year. After graduation from high school, Helen was awarded a music scholarship to the University of Houston, for her vocal ability. She was married to the love of her life, Ralph Marshall for 64 years. Together they parented four children, Sharon Rush of Dallas, TX, Cindi Maxwell of Richmond, Tx, Wesley Marshall, Cypress, TX and Amy Ranney, Rosenberg, Tx. Helen and Ralph have 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They raised their family in an idyllic community in Corpus Christi, Texas. There they had many friends. They were very involved in St. Marks Lutheran Church where Helen sang in the choir and Ralph was an usher. Helen had a beautiful voice, which she lent not only to church choirs, but also to small local productions of musical plays. She played the Mother Superior from The Sound of Music at the Corpus Christi Little Theater. When they left Corpus Christi the family moved to Houston, Texas, where both of their parents lived. There they could be more involved with their grandchildren’s lives. They moved to a suburb of Houston, Stafford, Tx in 1972. There she was involved with All Saints Lutheran Church choir and women’s group. She developed many longtime friendships that still exist today. While living in the Houston area, Helen had a career in the insurance business. She worked for Continental Insurance. Helen never knew a stranger; she spoke to anyone who she met with kindness. She has left her mark on the hearts of many. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. The family will receive friends Friday evening, June 7, 2019 from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral Home. June is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
