Francisca Romero Vasquez

Francisca Vasquez, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, left this life to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the age of 92. She passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. Francisca was born March 28, 1922, in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of the late Serapio and Belen Romero. At age 2, she and her family moved to Rosenberg, where she would later marry her husband of 61 years, the late Pedro Vasquez. Francisca enjoyed visiting with her family, tending to her flower beds, nurturing her cats and watching her telenovelas. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, making necklaces and being a "Mommy" to all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Serapio and Belen Romero; husband, Pedro Vasquez; baby son, Pete; baby daughter, Mary; son, Paul Vasquez; grandsons, Greg Ruiz and baby, Paul Michael Vasquez; and great-grandson, Christian Matthew Ramos. She is survived by her children, Raymond Vasquez and wife, Lilly; Vicki Garcia; Jane and husband, Michael Driscoll; Cathy and husband, Pete Ruiz; Annie and husband, Ernest Mata; Clara and husband, Sammy Jimenez; Lisa and husband, Ben Vargas; Buzzy and husband, Jerry Martinez; Pete Vasquez and wife, Debra; Joe Vasquez and wife, Cynthia; Michael Vasquez and wife, Calisa; along with 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rick Vasquez, Pape Ramos, Chris Driscoll, Eddie Zepeda, Jamie Mata, Aaron Mejia, Carl Vasquez, Abraham Garcia, Todd Driscoll, Jeremy Mata, P.J. Vasquez, Jared Martinez, Phillip Vasquez, Michael Vasquez Jr. and Angel Mejia. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons, Raymond, Pete, Joe and Michael Vasquez, along with sons-in-law Michael Driscoll, Pete Ruiz, Ernest Mata, Sammy Jimenez, Ben Vargas and Jerry Martinez. A visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, April 21, with a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m., in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, with Deacon Albert Yanez officiating in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
