Connie Marie Ingraham

Connie Marie Ingraham passed away peacefully at home on February 25, 2025 in Sugar Land, TX after a long illness at the age of 83. The beloved wife, mother, and grandmother was preceded in death by her parents James and Kathleen Crawford. Connie was born and raised in Chicago and cherished the summers she spent on Lake Michigan. Her family left the Midwest and moved to Massachusetts for her father’s job. The move would eventually prove to be life-changing for Connie. As a young girl in her 20’s, she agreed to a blind date with Donald (Don) David Ingraham, an eligible bachelor who lived one town over in Monson, MA. When the pair had dated about six months, Connie knew she had met her Mr. Right. Particularly inspired by the romantic movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” she felt it was time to move things along so she asked Don to propose to her. He did just as he was told and together, they picked out a ring at Sears and Robuck. Connie had to impatiently wait, but several weeks later on Valentine’s Day, Don proposed. Connie and Don never stopped holding hands and joyfully commemorated their 62nd wedding anniversary last June. Two years after the couple tied the knot, they celebrated the birth of their only child, Diane Marie Amundson. After Diane’s second birthday, they decided they were tired of shoveling snow so they moved their small family south to warmer climates on a wing and a prayer. They landed on their feet in Fort Worth, TX where Connie’s entrepreneurial spirit flourished, and she began a successful career in real estate. The next several decades included several moves to West Virginia, Houston, and Florida. Once back in the Lone Star State, Connie was inspired to start a number of different businesses. She ran a personnel agency, a landscape company, and eventually she and Don would work side by side with the creation Don Ingraham and Co., a chemical marketing company founded in 1987. Connie loved volunteering and leading activities she could share with Diane such as the American Red Cross and Girl Scouts. Numerous business and philanthropic organizations benefited from her commitment to volunteerism including the World Trade Council of Pensacola Florida, youth mentorship programs, and senior citizen groups. Connie’s sense of adventure was never more apparent than through her numerous travels. She and Don took great pride in having traveled to 102 countries worldwide (there are only 150 countries on the globe!) and all 7 continents. While traveling and during their time in Florida, she loved to fish, particularly saltwater and salmon fishing. She could also be found gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and reading. While travel brought out the adventure in Connie, her family was her heart. Diane and her husband, David Alan Amundson gave Connie her 3 beloved grandchildren— Grand-daughters: Abigal Marie Denmark (30) and her husband, Matthew, Rhetta Anne Beauchamp (27) and her husband, Luke, and Grandson: David (Alex) Alexander Amundson (25). She cherished the time traveling with them, playing games, making them laugh (three times!), and reading with them when they were little. She marveled in their uniqueness and was incredibly proud of their accomplishments as adults. Of all of the places they lived, Connie treasured her years of living on a ranch outside New Ulm, Texas the most. There they enjoyed a whole menagerie of farm animals including donkeys, cows, and horses. Not one to saddle up and ride a horse, the family always laughed that Connie referred to them as her, “looking horses.” She and Don created many fun memories with their grandchildren on the trails, ponds, and pastures of their country home. Connie’s family cherish her memory and especially her positive outlook on life and her ability to always see the “bright side” of a situation. Anyone who spent any time with her, including the wonderful caregivers of late, will tell you how much she adored her loving husband. She was proud that her long and loving marriage was an example to her daughter, grandchildren, and anyone who crossed her path. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in her honor to Stoney Creek Ranch (stoneycreekranch.org), a retreat facility for underserved youth located near New Ulm, Texas.
