Carolyn B. Baker

Carolyn Ivey Brown Baker, age 93, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on June 11, 2024. Born on February 22, 1931 in Weslaco, Texas to Ted and Janie Brown. Her early childhood was in Rosenberg, Texas where she met her lifelong friends, Dot and Leon Ulrich. During elementary school her family moved to the West University area in Houston where she graduated from San Jacinto High School. It was during her High School days that she met her husband, Bill Baker. Carolyn graduated from South West Texas University and she married Bill on June 6, 1953 in Sugar Land, Texas. Bill and Carloyn were married 63 Years, they had three sons and enjoyed a full life in Houston. Carolyn loved serving and it was in the Ruth Circle at Bellaire Methodist Church that she and her friends served delicious home-made meals to the elderly twice a month for 41 years. Carolyn was “famous” for her cake baking skills- out of her little kitchen she created the most gorgeous wedding cakes and amazing birthday cakes for family and friends! God gave Carolyn a beautiful heart of self-sacrifice that was so apparent in how she spent her time and energy – always thinking and doing for others. During the 1990’s Carolyn became a part of Community Bible Study and it was through this Bible Study that she came to a saving relationship in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. We are so thankful that she realized that her salvation rested totally on what Christ did for her in dying for her sins and enabling her to enter into glory through His works and His alone. The family would like to thank her devoted care givers that the Lord provided in Shirley Smallwood, and Theresa Reece these last 10 years. The nursing care she received at The Reserve in Sugar Land and The Sugar Land Methodist Church for their faithful visits. As her family, we rejoice that she is with the Lord, that she has a new whole well body and that we will see her again in Heaven with her Savior – Jesus! Carolyn has left for a brief time, her son Carl, his wife Carole, Grand-daughter Janie, her husband Alex Reiger, their children; Ellie, Becket, Beau, Grand- son Cody, her son Matt, his wife Kathe, Grand-son Austin, his wife Lauren, their children - Brooklyn, Teddy, Boone and Houston, Grand-daughter Barbara and her husband Nathan Jones, their children Tucker, Maddi, and Liam, Grandson David, Her son Greg and his wife Lisa, Grandson Benjamin, Grandson Nicholas, and Grand-daughter Lily. In lieu of flowers, remembrances and memorials for Carolyn Baker may be made to : Focus on the Family 8605 Explorer Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80920 A service celebrating Carolyn's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 1, 2024 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas.
