Arselle Lerma Garcia

Arselle Lerma Garcia, 78, of Haslet, Texas passed away on May 5, 2026, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 17, 1948, in Robstown, Texas to Pedro and Tomasita Moralez Lerma and was the 4th oldest out of 11 children. Arselle was a devoted mother, loving housewife, and a proud grandma. She enjoyed cooking for the family; her two favorite meals were carne picada and arroz con pollo. Of course, all meals came with homemade beans and fresh tortillas. Arselle was not one for sitting indoors. She enjoyed working in the yard with her husband Gilbert and her grandchildren. When the work was done everyone would get a treat of a popsicle or an ice cream sandwich. When the yard work was done, they would spend their weekends camping in Boerne, Galveston, or on their property in Somerville, still towing the grandchildren with them. Interior decorating was her passion. She had a keen eye for selecting artwork and coordinating furniture. Gilbert would often joke that he would have to look before he sat down to ensure there was a chair, as she would often rearrange the living room. Arselle was a hairstylist for over 50 years. She started off working in beauty salons, but with hard work and determination she eventually owned her own business, “Arselle Barber/Beauty Salon”. She operated several salons in the southwest Houston retirement homes communities. Arselle made many friendships while working and was able to make them feel young and beautiful. In addition to her parents, Arselle is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Garcia and her siblings, Doris Lopez (husband, Marcos Lopez), Rudy Lerma, Alice Martinez and Eddie Lerma. Survivors include her children: Sharon Villagomez, Sheila Samoro (husband, Luis Samoro), Kevin Garcia (wife, Lupe Garcia); siblings: Pete Lerma, Mary Sullivan, Janie De Los Santos (husband, Joe De Los Santos), Eloise Talamantez, Carlos Lerma (wife, Betty Lerma), and Larry Lerma; grandchildren: Mark Villagomez, Alyssa Villagomez, Zachary Samoro (wife, Mackenzie Samoro), Angelina Garcia, Madison Samoro, Evan Garcia; great-grandchildren: Haley Villagomez, Ryan Villagomez, Sebastian Villagomez, Juliana Alonzo; along with extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 18, 2026, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will include: Pete Lerma, Carlos Lerma, Luis Samoro, Zachary Samoro, Evan Garcia and Ryan Villagomez.
