Annie A. Knesek

Annie Knesek passed away July 30, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on October 17, 1934, on the family farm near Fayetteville, Texas to Peter and Stefina Chovanec. Sha has two sisters, Dorothy and Jean and a brother Peter. She would tell us stories of picking cotton by hand and pulling corn in the hot Texas sun and growing up as a kid without electricity. Annie was a product of the era she grew up in as a child, the Great Depression. She was in her early teens when the gift of electricity came to the farm. It was not an easy life but one she embraced and loved. It gave her a love of gardening and keeping a beautiful yard that won yard of the month several times in the late 60s and early 70s. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always there to help when needed. She could be a force of nature and was a hard worker. She was super supportive of her husband and children and that would extend to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She met her future husband, Frank, at a dance in Ellinger, TX. He was from Richmond and she was from Fayetteville. It was a long-distance courtship, but one that worked out. They married in May of 1955 and she moved to Richmond. They moved to Rosenberg in 1956 and she lived there till her death. They had two children, Frank Jr. and Dianne. Frank and Annie were also lifelong members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, and she sewed and quilted many quilts for the lady’s group for fund raising before arthritis in her hands stopped her. While she loved her yard and garden, she also loved her softball and bowling. She played on a team as a young girl and as a young adult. There was a lady softball league in the Richmond/Rosenberg area that she joined called the Rosenberg Roses and was an outstanding pitcher, fielder and home run hitter. She bowled for many years on various bowling teams and with her children. She acquired many bowling trophies and awards over the years. Annie is preceded in death by her husband of over 63 years, Frank Sr., her parents Peter and Stefina, brother-in-law and sister Alvin and Dorothy Krenek, nephew Alvin Krenek jr., niece Stephanie Chovanec, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton and Millies Knesek, and brother and sister-in-law, John and Josephine Knesek. Annie is survived by her son Frank Knesek Jr. and wife Becky, daughter Dianne Peschke and husband Ron, grandchildren Christie Jaster and husband Creighton, Courtney Peschke Rice and husband Kerry, Kirk Peschke and wife Derni, Mark Knesek and wife Jennifer and granddaughter Elizabeth Peschke. As well as 8 great grandchildren: Lucas, Sam and Anna Jaster; Alexis, Brianna and Celeste Peschke; Claire and Evan Knesek; and her devoted dog, Pita. Special recognition goes to her granddaughter Elizabeth who has been her caregiver for the last few years and especially for the care she gave the past 7 months. Because of Elizabeth’s devoted care she was able to stay home till the end. We also want to extend thanks to Enhabit for their work as her hospice provider. Visitation will be located inside the chapel of Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, TX on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary to start at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, TX on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM with a burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
