Amalia Gallegos de Ruiz, 95, of Houston, Texas passed away on December 21, 2024. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2024 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 27, 2024 at St. Mark's the Evangelist Catholic Church in Houston. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. OBITUARY IN ESPANOL: Amalia Gallegos de Ruiz, madre de 9 hijos, le sobreviven 18 nietos y 26 bisnietos. Casada por 50 años con Pedro Ruiz Cavazos. Nació y creció en La Hacienda El Álamo Vallecillo, Nuevo León, México. Fue la 5ta de 11 hermanos, nacidos del matrimonio de Teresa Garza Cantú y Basilio Gallegos Villareal. Una mujer fuerte e incondicional protectora, crió y llenó de amor a cada uno de sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos; con ilimitado amor para sus hermanas y hermanos, así como para todos aquellos que tuvieron la dicha de conocerla. Amalia, estuvo muy activa en su querida comunidad de El Álamo, sirvió como tesorera y fue una activa voluntaria en la escuela local Pablo L. Sidar y activista social; siempre dispuesta a ayudar al projimo, haciéndolos sentir como en casa. Su mayor logro fue saber que podía hacer sentir a otros mejor, y que, con su ejemplo, serian mejores personas. Su mayor éxito fue el siempre tener una sonrisa y un fuerte abrazo para aquellos que lo necesitaban. La extrañaremos. OBITUARY IN ENGLISH: Amalia Gallegos de Ruiz, mother of 9 children, grandmother of 18, great grandmother of 26 and married for 50 years to Pedro Ruiz Cavazos. She was born and raised in La Hacienda El Alamo, Vallecillo Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Amalia was the fifth of eleven children born out of the marriage between Teresa Garza Cantu and Basilio Gallegos Villareal. She was a strong and unconditional caregiver, active in her beloved community of El Alamo. She served as treasurer in the local Pablo L. Sidar elementary school, always reaching out to help the needy and making everyone feel at home. Her greatest accomplishment in life was to know she could make others feel better about themselves by leading by example and unselfish dedication. Her greatest strength was to always have a smile on her face and hug those who needed love and compassion the most. We will miss you.
