Alden "Ray" Love

Alden "Ray" Love of Sugar Land, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday October 24, 2011 at the age of 84. He was born on March 7, 1927 in Terrell, Texas to Oscar and Lissie and lived most of his life in Houston, where he met and married his wife Alyce Jordan on May 1, 1948. Ray and Alyce resided in Westbury where their four sons grew up. They eventually moved to Sugar Land in 1978. He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 63 years Alyce Jordan Love; his four sons Denny, Cliff and his wife Michele, Wayne and his wife Susie, and Kenneth; his seven grandchildren Dustin and his wife Stephanie, Brian, Katie and her husband Greg, Keith and Jeni, Kevin, Allison, and Wyatt; his four great-grandsons Cade, Jonny, Morgan, and Caine; two brothers Tommy and James Love; and numerous nieces and nephews. In 1957, Ray started Specialties Company and with his brother-in-law Chris Jordan grew it to the successful family-run business it is today. He loved what he did for a living and came into the office until the very end to spend time with his friends and family. Early in life, Ray enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and was one of the top pitchers in the area although he thought he was a better hitter than pitcher. He also loved hunting and fishing. Ray had a passion for baseball and enjoyed watching his sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons playing baseball. In 1965 he helped build the Westbury American Little League baseball fields and in 1966 their all-star team won the Little League World Series. He also loved horseracing and trips to the casinos. His luck at the horse track and casinos was unmatched similar to his generosity and kindness towards others. Ray said his best investment was his beach house in Galveston where his entire family would enjoy their summer days fishing. One of his mottos was "have a little fun everyday," and he did just that. Alyce and the rest of the family would like to thank Christina, Bobbie, Eneyda, Alma, Stacy, and Maggie at Pax Et Vita Home Health Care as well as Colonial Oaks in Sugar Land for their care and support. Funeral services will be held at the Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg, Texas on Thursday, October 27th at 2:00 pm. A visitation will be between noon and 2:00pm that day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
