September 4, 1930 - August 18, 2020
Patsy “Pat” Inches was born September 4, 1930 in Port Arthur, TX, and died peacefully August 18, 2020 in Katy, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee Crouch and Claudia Martha Boudreaux Crouch, her husband, Wayland Claude Inches, and sister, Billie Burke Randle. The youngest of 4 daughters, Pat’s childhood was blessed with health, family, and friends, and her beloved Pekinese dogs. She graduated Thomas Jefferson High School in January 1950 and attended North Texas State Teachers college at Denton. On March 28, 1953, Pat married Wayland Claude “W.C” Inches in the Methodist Temple in Port Arthur. During their 57 years of marriage, they grew their family to 6 by having 4 daughters, each born in a different state or country. Having moved many times with W.C.’s job at Mobil Oil, she loved to talk of her travels. She made it all sound so effortless and fun when she recounted how she flew to meet W.C. in Paris, France in 1959, dressed in a suit and pumps, with 2 toddlers and an infant in tow - all by herself. They lived there for almost 2 years, and returned to the U.S. with a fourth daughter. She called many places home as they transferred with W.C.’s company—Port Arthur, TX, Portales, NM, Abbeville and New Orleans, LA, Clearwater and Panama City, FL, Jackson, MS, and Corpus Christi, TX. They finally called Sugar Land, TX home for almost 40 years. Pat was active in PTA while her girls were in school. She loved gardening, and was a member of the Sugar Land Garden Club. A gifted seamstress, Pat made many of her daughters’ school and play clothing. As an empty-nester, Pat volunteered at a local church thrift store, and she and W.C. became avid bowlers, enjoying many years of friendships with other league bowlers. She also loved building jigsaw puzzles, ceramics, and crafting. Pat loved being a grandmother. Bubble baths followed by warmed towels, soft drinks sneaked into drinking cups, bowling trips, and more were some of her unique ways of showing love to her grandchildren. Mimi was generous with her hard candy, jelly beans (black ones were her favorite), and with herself. She loved spoiling her grandchildren when they came to visit. After the death of W.C., Pat lived in several retirement communities, with Sunrise at Cinco Ranch in Katy, TX being her final home. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated Sunrise care team for their love, devotion and commitment to Pat. A special thank you to Darlene, Philip, Tammy, Debbie, Melissa, and Annette who gave tirelessly and selflessly to ensure Pat’s quality of life. The family is also grateful to Amed Hospice for their care and compassion. Pat lived a full life and will be missed greatly by her family and friends. She is survived by 4 daughters, Elizabeth Inches and husband Joel Pearson, Cindy Inches, Cathy Durham and husband Bill, Claire Inches and husband Scott August; 5 grandchildren, Bethany Durham and husband Matthew Keibel, Alicia Bynog and husband Stephen, Matthew Adams and wife Zoe, Chelsea Camann and husband Nick, Krista Gladish and husband Jonathan; 8 great grandchildren, Zelda Adams, Hayley, Sawyer and Harvey Camann, Jacob, Joshua and Jordan Bynog, and Jamie Gladish; and sister Mary Skillern, along with a host of other loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 31, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Gantz presiding. The family will receive friends starting at 1:00 P.M. on Monday until service time.
