Florence Moye

MOYE, Florence, age 94, went Home to the Lord on May 6, 2014 in Sugar Land, TX. Florence was born, raised and married in San Antonio, TX and retired in 1987 after 16 years working for the Hearst Corporation's "San Antonio Light". She had three daughters, one she gave birth to, Pamela, and two she adopted – the late Betty, and Judy who, with Pam, gave loving care and comfort as dementia afflicted her later years. Florence was a loving mother to her daughters, nieces and nephews, a generous spirit and wise counselor to her friends and family, and a wickedly funny curmudgeon to all who knew her. Her family is totally tickled by the thought that she, her siblings, Robert and Helen, and her best friend, Ruth, are just "tearing it up" in Heaven in fact, the family speculates that Mom's late-in-life-departure was just to delay these celestial shenanigans. Following a hip fracture in January 2014, Mom spent her last few months at Sugar Land Health Care Center, and the family thanks them for their kindly care of her in her final months. Prior to this, beginning in May 2012, Mom was tenderly and lovingly cared for by the good folks at Home Sweet Home residential-care facility for the elderly in Houston. The family thanks the owner, Rolando, and especially Cristina, the manager, for caring so much and so well for our Mom. Even before these facilities, there came the loving care of Pearla who for several years allowed Mom's daughters to feel secure in leaving Mom alone while they had decompression-time. Pearla, like her name, is a gem, and we can never, ever thank her enough. Throughout all of this, the family is truly grateful for the constant prayers of the Care Team warriors at Christ United Methodist Church CUMC, and the family's many other friends. A brief graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 FM 2218, Rosenberg TX, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3300 Austin Parkway, Sugar Land, TX.
