Claude Lennox Roberts Jr.
April 18, 1927 - April 6, 2022
Age 94 Born in Hereford, TX on April 18, 1927 Left for Heaven on April 6, 2022 Claude Roberts, 94, of Houston, Texas passed away on April 6, 2022 after a beautiful life with his loving and faithful wife, Betty Jane Ross Roberts of nearly 71 years. Aside from being survived by Betty, Claude leaves behind two daughters Nancy Janelle Mayes of Wallis, Texas and Sarah Ann Williamson married to Jim Williamson of Frankston, Texas. Claude has three grandchildren he dearly loved – Heather Bray Weaver married to Geoffrey Lynn Weaver, James Austin Williamson with fiancé Kamael Ou, and Aaron Ross Williamson married to Sharon Smead. Claude also has three great grandchildren – Dustin Kenneth Bray, Madison Starr Weaver, and Remington Hunter Weaver. Claude has lived and enjoyed an abundant life full of loving friends and family. His greatest pride has always been his accomplishments in education and career. Claude graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in petroleum/gas engineering from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX. He worked for Marathon Oil Company for 30+ years. He retired as Onshore Division Manager in Houston, Texas. He always loved his work and especially the many friends he made over the years, always keeping up with them well beyond his retirement years. Marathon was just another big family to Claude. He was a very dedicated person who considered his profession a true part of what made life important and taught his daughters that commitment and challenge are well worth the effort. Claude was an adventurer through and through. He loved everything about God’s earth from viewing beautiful mountains, fishing in streams, skiing on lakes, traveling to Alaska, touring Indian ruins, and golfing on courses he found challenging. He loved growing up in Rockport, Texas and there was probably no better place to go on vacation than to smell the ocean breezes in Rockport. He taught all of his family that God came first, then your spouse, then your children. Once retired, Claude enjoyed trying to piece together our family genealogy and spent countless hours on his computer putting together something we’ll always have to treasure. He loved discussing politics or any other subject you asked him about, but we all knew he hoped you agreed with him. We all laughed knowing Claude was opinionated when it came to certain subjects. I know we’ll miss his intellect and wisdom on so many subjects for which we knew he was our rock. In the last years of his life, he enjoyed the comforts of Eagles Trace Senior Living along with Betty, his devoted and loving wife. Together they watched many new buildings go up around their own. Dad loved watching the construction process out his window, and we all knew he could have been the foreman on those jobs. We can all say Claude was a meticulous man, determined to understand everything, deliberate with his words, and organized beyond expression. He never stopped planning the next adventure in his mind or solving the biggest of problems he encountered. My mother was the love of his life, and he made certain she came first from the first time he said “I Do” until the day he left for heaven. Preceded in death were father, Claude Lennox Roberts, Sr., mother - Lecy Jane McCollum Roberts, sister, Billie Jo Carpenter, brother-in-law - John Carpenter and son-in-Law – Ronald Theo “Ted” Mayes. He will be honored on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at David Greenlawn Funeral Chapels and Cemeteries, Rosenberg, TX at 1:00 PM in the State Room with graveside at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Claude's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation. P.O. Box 6068, Albert Lea, MN 56007-9847
