    Candida G. Gutierrez

    July 14, 1941 - April 7, 2022

Candida (Candy) Gutierrez, age 80, of Harlingen, TX, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 Candy Gutierrez was born July 14, 1941, in Primera, TX, the daughter of Luz and Concepcion (Rodriguez) Gonzalez. As the daughter of migrant workers, most of the Candy’s youth was spent traveling to different states with her siblings and helping her parents with migrant work. Candy met Joe Gutierrez in Harlingen and they were married June 3, 1963. Candy was a great cook, rarely using recipes, she could create fantastic dishes. Candy was a beautiful dancer and would always light up the dance floor with her husband Joe. The couple was blessed with three boys. Candy started her career with Fort Bend ISD where she eventually retired from. She served the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 2060 as their Regent for several years and as their District Deputy. Along with her husband she also dedicated time in working with Hispanic for Higher Education to gather funds to award education scholarships for Fort Bend County High School graduates. She also always gave her time helping family, friends, and community. Candy was very family oriented, and she devoted much of her time to her family, especially her grandchildren. Candy enjoyed seeing her grandchildren excel in sports, dance, and educational curriculums. You could always hear Candy rooting her grandchildren on, no matter what sport they were playing or where they were dancing. Candy is survived by her three sons, Adrian of Houston, TX, Roel of Harlingen, TX and Joel and wife Abigail of Pearland, TX; five grandchildren: Jillian, Roxana, Emily, Rachael and Micaela; two brothers Roberto Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, TX and Mario Gonzalez of San Antonio, TX. Candy gave her love freely and was loved by so many, she will be missed. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 22, 2022, at Holy Family Catholic Church located 1510 5th St, Missouri City, TX. Visitation will be held at 5:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Davis Greenlawn, which is located at 3900 B F Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX.
