Victor Carl Mazurkiewicz

Funeral services for Victor Carl Mazurkiewicz, 84, of Richmond will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 507 S. 4th Street in Richmond with Deacon Don Ries officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009 in the Stateroom of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Victor was born November 19, 1924 near Hempstead to Steve and Mary Modzinski Mazurkiewicz, younger years growing up in Chappel Hill, Texas. Moved with his parents to Crabb in 1940 where they farmed cotton, corn and other vegetables and raised many hogs. Vic moved to Richmond, and lived on Union St. for about 40 years. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch waving at those that passed by until he moved to Richmond HealthCare Center. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed working alongside his brother-in-law Wallace Borowiak, Sr. as a roofer for many years. He loved gardening and really had a green thumb, always eager to share his wealth of vegetables. You could always spot Victor picking pecans which he would shell late at night and give to all his "shuggies", just in time for holiday baking. Victor loved his family much and always enjoyed their visits. He leaves behind many friends as well. Victor went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Mary Mazurkiewicz; and brothers, Theodore, Edward, Steve and John Mazurkiewicz; and niece, Connie Mikel. Victor is survived by his two sisters, Antonia Mazurkiewicz Borowiak of Richmond and Anne Mazurkiewicz Rosenbaum of Rosenberg; nephews, Wallace, Emil, Michael, and Jeff Borowiak, Glenn Rosenbaum, Allen Goldman, Nicholas and Bryce Barby, Jacob and Ryan McFarland, Max Chernow, Rhett Borowiak, James Mazurkiewicz and Eddie Jr.; nieces, Mary Ann Goldman, Cheryl Gonzalez, Ginger Barby-Johnson, Jennifer McFarland, Lori Chernow, Allyson Chernow, Brandi and Jodi Borowiak, Michala Borowiak, Margie Mensik, JoAnn Gorka and Dana Herrmann; cousins, Pete, Henry and Aloise Mazurkiewicz; along with other family and friends. Pallbearers will include Wallace Borowiak, Jr., Emil Borowiak, Allen Goldman, Michael Borowiak, Jeff Borowiak and Glenn Rosenbaum. Honorary pallbearers will include Pete Gomez, James Mazurkiewicz, Willie McGee, Jacob McFarland, Bryce Barby, Nicholas Barby, Rhett Borowiak and Pat Anderson. The family wishes to thank all the workers at Richmond HealthCare Center, especially his "shuggies" for being so good to Victor and letting him be in charge of hospitality.
