Selma Julie (Kubena) Bednarek

Selma Julie (Kubena) Bednarek, 105, of Needville, Texas passed away on November 15, 2019. She was born on October 8, 1914 in Needville, Texas to John and Julia (Sitta) Kubena. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville. Selma was a member of the Altar Society and the K.J.Z.T. Her hobbies included gardening and tending to her flowers. If you stopped by for a visit you were sure to be offered a glass of her famous Sweet Tea and sent home with a dozen farm fresh eggs. She loved playing dominoes and visiting with her friends. She took great pride in remaining fluent in Czech. This loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend will truly be missed. In addition to her parents, Selma is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore “Ted” Bednarek; daughter, Sandra Wiles; sons-in-law, Ernest Krupa and Adolph Macha; siblings, Joe Kubena, Johnnie Kubena and Mary Petrusek; and great grandchildren, Lawson Theodore Domec and Zachary Benjamin Sullivan. Survivors include her daughters, Delores Macha and Jeanette Krupa; grandchildren, Shelly Sullivan and husband, Bill, Lanea Knox and husband, Len, Sheryl Norman and husband, Todd, Melanie Sulak and husband, Tommy, Gina Ascenzi and husband, Brad, and Miranda Domec and husband, Scott; great grandchildren, Lance Knox, Lindsay Norman, Lauren Sulak, Larissa Knox, Gavin Domec, Sarah Norman, Braden Ascenzi, Cade Ascenzi, Maverick Domec and Declan Domec; along with numerous extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 21, 2019 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Marty Pham to officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville or to the Needville Volunteer Fire Department.
