Rena Ann Sullivan

Beloved Daughter, Mother, Wife, and Grandmother, Rena Ann Sullivan of Richmond, Texas passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 after her brave battle with cancer. Rena was born to the late Jack Lashley and the surviving Ethelyn Lashley on November 15, 1948 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, sister to her older brother, Ronald Lashley and younger brother, Kenny Lashley. She graduated in 1967 from Bay High School. In 1969, Rena married Rodney Dale Sullivan in a little church near the beach in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, and the two moved around often as Rodney was in the Navy. They had their first child, Kim Elaine while living in Florida. David Christopher was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Finally they landed in Richmond, Texas, just outside of Houston were they decided to stay and lay their roots. There they had their third child, Carrie Elyse Sullivan. Rena was a diligent, loving, and passionate mother. She also worked as a pre-school teacher for St. Johns Methodist where she has touched so many lives. She had a magic with children. Always patient and loving with an unending smile that people could feel as well as see. She was a gifted gardener, and loved flowers of all kinds. She taught so many people about growing beautiful things, and about love, laughter and the importance of family. Rena was incredibly proud of the beautiful family she and Rodney had created. She could always be found with her eye behind a camera, capturing her fondest memories. She admired and loved her daughter-in-law, Claire Camit Sullivan and her beloved two grandchildren, Laila Fe and Conner Jack Sullivan. Rena was surrounded in life and in death by her loving family and will always be remembered as a woman who knew that love is the key to a joyful life. As Rena loved flowers, they are always welcome. However, the family has requested that donations be made to M.D. Anderson for their incredible care during Rena's war against cancer, and for the care of current and future cancer patients. The family will receive guests from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Deacon Don Ries will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
