Raul Trevino Sr.

Raul Trevino passed away at age 87 on June 8, 2012 after a 2 week battle with an illness. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anita Trevino, and daughters Linda Barnes and husband Michael of Richmond, Margret Salazar and husband Louis of Hallettsville, and Gloria Duran of Rosenberg. Sons Raul Trevino, Jr. and wife Bell of Richmond, David Trevino and wife Mona of Richmond, and Mike Trevino and wife Trudy of Athens, Texas. Grandchildren Louis Salazar, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Deer Park, Dena Ann Thomas and husband Mark of Dallas, Ann Marie Yanez of Richmond, Misty Bowen and husband Jim of Dallas, Jo Anna Salazar and Sara Davis of Hallettsville, Tanya Munoz and husband Leroy of Sugar Land, Sky Trevino and wife Erica of Rosenberg, Marcie Hernandez and husband Anthony of Richmond, Amanda Zamarripa and husband Freddy of Richmond, Lori Rodriguez and husband Ernesto of Houston, Nina Trevino of Rosenberg, Lance Trevino of Athens, and Laci Trevino of Lubbock, Texas. Great grandchildren Gabriella, Taylor, and Stone Thomas, Hayden Bowen, Rhiana Garica, Lil' Freddy Zamarripa, Damiano Baltrip, Diego and Mateo Hernandez, Julian and Kalinna Trevino, Leah and Kaylee Munoz, Brandon Nieto, Vincente Escobedo, Ian Deleon, Lissette Rodriguez, Heather Salazar, Lance and Kyle Morris, Julia, Cassie, Trevor, and Emily Salazar. Extended family members David Trevino of Huntsville, Alabama and his children Greg, Jim, David, Nancy Trevino from Alabama, and Sister Gloria Pilinga from Edinburg, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Abelina and Juan Trevino, his brothers Agapito and Juan Trevino from Edinburg, his son-in-law Pete Duran of Rosenberg, grandson Roy Salazar from Deer Park. Raul was a loving husband and grandfather who was born in Edinburg, Texas on July 10, 1924 to Abelina and Juan Trevino. He enlisted into the Army on August 17, 1944, where he served with Company E, 314 Infantry Regiment, and 79TH Infantry Division. He received a Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and the Army of Occupation Ribbon in Germany where he fought during WWII in the Rhineland Central Europe Campaign. Upon his return to the states, he owned and operated his own Taxi Service in Edinburg for a few years while the family grew. In 1960, he took a job with the Texas Department of Corrections TDC and moved the family to Sugar Land where the family lived in a rent house until he had his house constructed. Once the house was built, he moved the family into the home where he raised and provided for 6 children. He retired from TDC at age 55 and lived a great life with his daughters, sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday evening, June 11, 2012 from 4-8 PM in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7 PM. Pall Bearers will be Raul Trevino JR, David Trevino, Michael Trevino, Lance Trevino, Raul Sky Trevino & Louis Salazar, Jr.
