Monica Urrutia Palmarez

Monica Urrutia Palmarez, 97, of Rosenberg, Texas passed away on June 19, 2020 in Rosenberg, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Martindale, Texas to Valentin and Rita Rocha Urrutia. Monica was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Rosenberg. It was through this membership that Monica was a member of the Guadalupanas and the Cursillos. She treasured the time she could care for her grandchildren and cooking for her family. Monica had a fondness for music and enjoyed dancing with her husband, Alfonso. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Astros, Texans and even wrestling. She will truly be missed. In addition to her parents, Monica is preceded in death by her husband, Alfonso Palmarez; daughter, Martha Garcia; grandson, Alfredo “Freddie” Mendoza; four sisters and five brothers. Survivors include her children, Bobby Palmarez (wife Pam), Bertha Mendoza (husband Alfred), and Albert Palmarez (wife Sue); brother, Lucas Urrutia; grandchildren, Joe Garcia, Lawrence Garcia, Lisa Flores (husband Gerard C. Sr.), Elena Becker (husband Jerome), Melissa Palmarez, Jennifer Trevino (husband Alex), and Albert Anthony Palmarez; 13 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren, along with a host of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Texas. Father Lee Flores will officiate the service. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. The service will be streamed live through our funeral home website. Pallbearers to include Albert Anthony Palmarez, Gerard C. Flores, Sr., Alex Trevino, Robert Ramirez, Cameron Garcia and Ray Segura. Honorary pallbearers will include Joel Ramirez and Isaiah Ramirez.
