Melba Lee Snedecor

Melba Davis Snedecor passed away on June 16, 2026. She was born in Hope, Lavaca County, Texas on October 23, 1936, to Madeline Buss Davis and Lavoir E. (Buster) Davis. She is preceded in death by a son, Charles Kerry Hester, her parents, two brothers, John B. Davis and Glen E. Davis and three sisters, Earline Davis, Wanda Lois Davis and Gwendolyn Louise Scogin. She is survived by her husband, James Tarver Snedecor, daughters, Kim Hester McFarland and husband, Richard of Fischer, Texas, Kayla Hester Bomar and husband Kenny of Chandler, Texas; Renee Snedecor King of Rosenberg, Texas and son, James C. Snedecor of Rosenberg, Texas; seven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also, four sisters, Mary Audas of Henderson, Texas, Dianna Davis and Sandra Davis of Houston, Susan Davis of Austin, Texas and one brother, Grady W. Davis and wife Kay of Oak Point, Texas. Melba was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church in Richmond. She was a charter member of the Richmond American Legion Auxiliary. After her retirement from Gulf States Tube Company in Rosenberg, Texas, she and James moved to Matagorda, Texas. She was active in the Matagorda community, serving on the Matagorda Independent School District Board of Trustees for eleven years. She was a member of the Matagorda Chamber of Commerce, the Rivers’ End Garden Club, Friends of the Matagorda Library and was a charter member of the Matagorda Lions Club. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. Family gatherings were the light of her life. Aside from her family, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing. She and James traveled extensively during their early retirement years. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by services at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial to follow immediately after the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
