Mary Ann Holmes

Mary Ann Holmes, 77, died peacefully at her home in Rosenberg October 21, 2008. Mary Ann was born October 7, 1931 in Fulshear to Edward Nesbitt and Mary Miller Dozier. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years. Luvine Holmes. They were both members of the Richmond High Class of "48" where she was a twirler and he played football. Mary Ann and Luvine raised their family and lived in Ft. Bend County. They owned and operated Holmes Smokehouse for over 30 years. Many will remember Friday night catfish dinners, deer processing, holiday hams and turkeys and are still enjoying Holmes Smokehouse Pecan Smoked Sausage. Mary Ann loved to visit with friends and family and enjoyed reading, watching Court TV and cooking shows. She enjoyed her Wednesday night dinners with Bartley, Lyda and Madelyn and whoever else cared to join in. Survivors include 3 sons, Steve Holmes and wife Debbie, Gary Holmes and wife Pam, Carl Holmes and wife Deborah, 1 daughter, Ginny Holmes; grandchildren. Clinton Holmes, Kennon Holmes, Garrett Holmes, Andy Holmes, Shane Ridenhour, Justin Pettigrew, Lou Ann Gray, Christine Holmes, Emily Holmes, and Paula Holmes; great-grandchildren, Taylor Gary, Regan Gray, Cameron Holmes, Jacolby Holmes, Erica Holmes, nieces, Mimmie Gless, Ava Mounger, Carol Ann Miller, Rooke Henrick, Lee Ann Casey, Susan Dozier, and Cathey Holmes; nephews, Joe Dozier, Jim Dozier, Bubba Dozier, David Holmes and Tommy Holmes; special friends, Bartley Jane Lightheimer, Lydia Davis McNeil, Madelyn Morton, Bessie Lewis, Pat Dozier, Willie Mitchell, Cotton Morgan, Bill Walker, Punky and Walter Whately, Amelia Burke and Jamie Schatt and also numerous other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers will be Joe Dozier, Jim Dozier, Jason Grace, Tommy Holmes, David Holmes, Kendall Litchfield; and honorary pallbearers will be Cotton Morgan, Bill Walker, Walter Whatley and .Junior Hartledge. Funeral services will be held at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg, Friday, October 24, 2008 at 3 PM. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.
