Mary Ann Dersen

Mary Ann (Klobedans) Dersen, 88, of Sugar Land, Texas and formerly of Rosenberg, Texas passed away on August 22, 2026. She was born on August 27, 1937 in Lavaca County, Texas to Henry and Mary (Czichos) Klobedans. After graduating from Moulton High School, she married Alfred W. Dersen on June 12, 1955. Mary spent the next twenty years caring for their growing family. They lived in San Pedro, California; Houston, Texas and Pleak, Texas before finally settling in Rosenberg, Texas. Mary began working at Eckerd Drugstore where she worked in the pharmacy for fifteen years. Mary loved helping people and was known for greeting each customer with a smile. Her kindness and willingness to help made her a familiar and welcoming presence at the pharmacy. After retiring from Eckerd, Mary continued to give her time to others by volunteering at Helping Hands Food Distribution and the county library. She enjoyed helping her community and was always willing to lend a hand whenever one was needed. After Alfred retired, the two enjoyed taking road trips together, exploring the beautiful landscapes and famous landmarks of the American West. Their travels gave them the opportunity to discover new places, create core memories, and enjoy the freedom of retirement. Mary’s greatest joy was her family, and she showed her love through countless thoughtful gestures and acts of kindness. She especially loved doing things for the people she cared about. Every birthday, she would ask what kind of cake was wanted, and then she would make it herself. Early on their birthday morning, family could count on a call from Mary and Alfred singing “Happy Birthday,” loud and mostly off-key, but always full of love. A visit to Mary’s home was rarely complete without something homemade waiting to be enjoyed, such as cupcakes, or her signature snickerdoodle cookies. She loved making sure everyone was well fed and cared for. At Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, Mary prepared delicious feasts for her family, always making more than enough so everyone could leave with leftovers to enjoy for another meal. For Mary, cooking, baking, and caring for her family were some of the ways she expressed her love. This loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend will truly be missed, in addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Alfred Dersen, and her brothers Walter and Jimmy. Survivors include her daughters, Debra Butts and her husband, Herbert "Randy", Linda Loesch and her husband, Kevin, and Carolyn Dersen and her wife, Christa Powell. Referred to as “Nanny,” Mary’s legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Robert Dersen and his wife, Jessica, Michelle Yebra and her husband, Joe, Amanda Roberts and her husband, Derek and Brian Loesch and his wife, Natalie Skyrm and her great grandchildren, Arley & Autumn Yebra and Corbin Loesch. Services will be Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at 10am at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. (Hwy 59 South @ FM 2218), Rosenberg, Texas 77471, Phone: 281-341-8800.
