Mary Horak Bishop

Mary Horak Bishop, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2011 in Needville, at the age of 87. She was born on August 14, 1923 in Richmond, Texas. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late D.H. "Chief" Bishop; and two brothers, the late I.F. "Perk" Horak and Jerry Horak. Mary is survived by her children, Sandra Rieger of Needville, Karen Britton of Houston, Marcus Bishop of Needville, and Gary Bishop and his wife, Barbara, of Sugar Land. Also surviving are her sisters, Georgia Lehmann of Rosenberg and Viola Russie and her husband, Marvin, of Houston; sister-in-law, Ethel Horak, of Needville; along with many nieces and nephews. Mary also leaves behind her 6 grandchildren, Tamara Rieger Kalkomey and her husband, Cody, of Needville, Blake Rieger and his wife, Karen, of Needville, Jessica Bishop of Austin, Callum Bishop of East Bernard, Travis and Taylor Bishop of Sugar Land; and 3 great grandchildren, Branson Kalkomey, KayLynn and Brant Rieger. She was a long time resident of Needville and was a devoted and faithful member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville. She was a member of St. Michael's Altar Society, K.J.Z.T Society #49 and the Catholic Daughters. The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. on Thursday, May 12, 2011 A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael's the Archangel Catholic Church in Needville, on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Needville. Father Joseph Phan will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Blake Rieger, Callum Bishop, Cody Kalkomey, Branson Kalkomey, Travis Bishop, Allen and Kyle Newell. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions to be made to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Family Life Center, 9202 Main, Needville, TX 77461, in memory of the most wonderful mother, a gift from God. You touched our lives in so many ways and our confidence is that you are in complete happiness in Heaven for eternity. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at S.P.J.S.T.
