Marvin Dean Kemp

Marvin Dean Kemp was born August 8, 1936, to Marvin Lee Kemp and Anna Leona Rice aka "Nanny" in New Gulf, TX. Marvin attended Lamar Highschool where he graduated in 1954 and attended WCJC. He worked as a mechanic as a young man & supped up his hotrod cars and drove around town as fast and loud as possible. Marvin joined the Army in 1961 and was stationed in Germany where he dedicated his life serving and protecting his country. Upon his return to the US, he was reunited with his wife Billie and son Terry. It was then they expanded their family to include daughter Lori Kemp and son Andy Kemp. He worked as a parts manager for White Pontiac Cadillac Dealership in Rosenberg, for many years. The last part of his career he worked as parts manager of Gale Bueltel Chevrolet dealership in El Campo where he would eventually retire from. Marvin enjoyed spending his time outdoors and being with nature. He took pleasure in wood crafting and building furniture. He was such a perfectionist and could repair just about anything. He became known in the family as “Mister Fix-it”! Mr. Kemp was also an avid fisherman; he could be found building fishing boats with his buddy Cliff Schatte. Animals had a special place in Marvin’s heart; you could always find a cat or dog right by Mr. Kemp’s side. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents Marvin Lee and Anna Leona Kemp, his beloved grandmother Ethel Simmons, also known as “Dubbie”, his sons Terry Wayne Kemp and Anthony Dean Kemp, and his grandson Tanner Kemp. Marvin is survived by his younger sister June Patterson, his daughters Lori Kemp and JoAnn Martin, his grandchildren Jessica Kemp, Zachary Smith, Jacquelynne Kemp, Jaime Kemp, Janna Gracia (her husband Luis Gracia), and great-grandchildren Christopher Williams, Noah Williams, Jo’hannah Kemp along with many numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A special thank you to his grandson Zachary Smith who was with him every day and provided constant care and comfort for him. We are also grateful to Lisa Kemp for her support and the loving care she showed to him. He will be missed dearly by his family. We love you and will see you again Dad. Visitation will be held inside the chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Funeral service will begin promptly at 2:00 PM, same location as the visitation, with a burial to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks to please donate to any local animal shelter as Mister Kemp was a big animal lover and never turned away an animal in need.
