Marjorie Ann (McCorquodale) Vickers

Marjorie Ann McCorquodale Vickers, born on May 11, 1933, passed peacefully from this earth on November 30, 2025. Marjorie was born in Iola, Texas on May 11, 1933, to Houston and Oleta McCorquodale. She was the oldest of six children and graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1952. She met Claude Ray Vickers, the love of her life at a Church Singing Fellowship. They attended Abilene Christian University and were married in 1953. God and family were the highest priority in Marjorie’s life. She was a faithfully devoted Sunday School teacher for 4–5-year-olds for over 60 years, the last twenty years being at Graeber Road. Marjorie, being artistic and creative developed curriculum with visual aids throughout the years for her classes and students. Marjorie was the Secretary of Sharpstown Christian School since inception in 1969. The school transitioned to Sugar Grove Christian School where she continued to serve until her retirement. Sugar Grove Christian School named the library in her honor. Her hobbies included oil painting and sewing. She created many quilts over the years which were stitched with love. She was a long time Astro’s fan and followed the Houston Rockets. She was extremely competitive when she played Scrabble. Marjorie was proceeded in death by her parents Houston and Oleta Singletary McCorquodale; husband Claude Ray Vickers, daughter Cheryl Denise, granddaughter Kristine Ann Vickers; brothers Howard and Ray McCorquodale, sister, Evelyn McCorquodale Jackson. She survived by her children, Greg Vickers and wife Kay Reed Vickers, Denise Vickers Miller and husband, Jay Miller, Beth Vickers Glasheen and husband Richard Glasheen, Chris Vickers; grandchildren Grady Vickers, Tara Miller Meade, and husband Colt Meade, Jeremy Miller and wife Ruby Garza Miller, Joshua Miller and fiancée Miklylie Hines, Marybeth and Brian Glasheen; great grandchildren Trinity Vickers, Kaylee and Kara Holley, Kylie and Kate Miller, Teagan Meade; siblings Faye McCorquodale Griffin, Don McCorquodale and many relatives and friends. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Graeber Road Church of Christ in Rosenberg. In lieu of flowers please donate to Cherokee Home for children c/o Graeber Road Church of Christ or the charity of your choice.
