Maria G. "Lupita" Baena de Sanchez

Maria Guadalupe "Lupita" Baena de Sanchez, 73, of Richmond, Texas, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 9, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Born in Mexico to J. Cruz Bahena and Gracia Flores, Lupita lived a life rooted in faith, family, and devotion. She was a long-time, faithful parishioner of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond. To know Lupita was to know her warmth. She found her greatest happiness in the quiet beauty of tending to her backyard flowers and, above all, in the laughter and company of her large family. Her legacy of love as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and loyal friend will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Lupita is reunited in heaven with her parents; her two infant sons, Abraham and Jose Sanchez; her sister, Magdalena Bahena; and her brother, Proceso Bahena. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 52 years, Catalino Sanchez Huerta; her children, Maury Rojas (Tony), Silvia Sanchez (Gerardo Huerta), Elio Sanchez, and Denise Sanchez (Andrew Rubio); her siblings, Aurelia Bahena, Amancio Bahena, Nicolas Bahena, Marcela Bahena, Piedad Bahena, Reina Sanchez, Antonia Bahena, and Vicenta Diaz; her grandchildren, Emily, Diego, Yvonne, and Sophia Rojas, Manuel Herrera (Kathya Lara), and Leonardo Huerta; and her precious great-granddaughter, Estelle Herrera. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond, Texas with Fr. Jose Luis Gutierrez officiating. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will include Catalino Sanchez, Elio Sanchez, Tony Rojas, Gerardo Huerta, Andrew Rubio, Manuel Herrera, Leonardo Huerta and Diego Rojas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 410 Clay Street, Richmond, Texas 77469.
