Maria Perez Duran

Maria Perez Duran, 78, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 30, 2010 in Needville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg with Deacon Billy Guerrero officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Friday, October 1, 2010 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg. Maria was born October 25, 1931 in Bastrop to Pedro Perez and Raquel Gutierrez Perez. She will be remembered for her love of family and faith. Maria was a very generous woman who gave completely of herself with her strong work ethics, great advice and kindness. Everyone knew they could go to her home at any time and she would always have something delicious to eat. She helped her own parents in the cotton fields along with her children. Maria was known for her excellent cooking and sewing skills. She was the co-owner of Duran's Country Kitchen for sixteen years and also did the cooking. The key to her delicious meals was that as she was preparing them, she would bless them with the sign of the cross. Those left to cherish her memory and love are her loving husband, Selestino G. Duran; her four children, Teresa Emmons and husband, Daniel, Gloria Rivera and husband, Daniel, Robert Duran and wife, Cheryl, and Edward Duran and wife, Jodena; grandchildren, Lori Anne Mireles and husband, Joe, Charles Rene Emmons, Dr. Jacqueline Emmons and husband, Blake, Dr. Christopher Daniel Emmons, Daniel Rivera, II, Kenneth Michael Rivera and wife, Anna, Kimberly Pena and husband, Frankie, Desiree Rivera, Natalie Ariz and husband, Mauricio, Robert Anthony Duran and wife, Christina, Elizabeth Haven Duran and Courtney Meagan Duran; she was also blessed with 20 great grandchildren; brothers, Frank Perez and wife, Virginia and Guadalupe Perez and wife, Christina; sisters, Olga Cantu, Diamantina Davila and husband, Samuel, and Delia Padia; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Raquel Perez; sister, Celia Perez; and twin granddaughters, Angela and Monica Duran.
