Margaret Virginia Odom

Margaret Virginia Odom, 84, of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with dementia. She was born on January 31, 1941, in La Ward, Texas, to Jack L. Compton and Willie Gilmore Compton. Virginia graduated from Bishop High School in 1960 and remained deeply connected to her classmates throughout her life. She was actively involved in planning class reunions and treasured the lifelong friendships she built during those years. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her sons, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many. Her warmth, resilience, and nurturing spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Virginia loved being MiMi more than anything. Her love for her grandchildren took her everywhere—from football fields and Boy Scout events to cheerleading competitions—but her heart belonged to baseball. A lifelong Astros fan, she cheered them on faithfully, but nothing brought her more joy than watching her grandson Tye play. From T-ball to college baseball, she never missed a moment and beamed with pride every step of the way—he was her heart and joy. She is survived by her loving family: • Son George Odom and his wife Karen Odom from Lake Jackson, TX along with their children Mike Guillot (Lynne) from Dallas, Tx, Will Hopkins from New York,NY and Jackson Hopkins of College Station, TX • Son Troy Odom and his wife Teena Odom of Kingsville, TX, along with their children Tye Odom, Hunter Woodall (Sydney), Zachary Woodall (Michelle), and McKenzie Woodall from San Antonio, TX • Sister Joan Compton of Marlin, TX • nine great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Alan Odom; her parents Jack L. Compton and Willie Gilmore Compton; sisters Patricia Ann Compton and Claudia Marie Meismer; and brother Carl Lynn Compton. Margaret will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her kind heart, and the legacy of strength and compassion she leaves behind. She was a light in the lives of all who knew her and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church in Rosenberg. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
