Manuel G. Herrera

Manuel G. Herrera went to be with the lord on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the age of 86. He was a lifelong resident of Needville, Texas where he owned and operated his small business with his son Eladio, Herrera's Service Station, and raised his family. He was a well-known and highly respected member of his community, having held several leadership positions including the San Francisco Cemetery Society and the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church- Our Lady of Guadalupe Ministry. Many people knew Manuel as a very generous and kind-hearted man who always had a smile on his face and friendly disposition. He always led by example and leaves a long legacy of a devotion to assisting friends and family members with whatever they needed to improve their quality of life and spiritual journey for God. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He is survived by his wife Maria Herrera and loving children Eladio and Andrea Herrera, Rosie and Ricardo Arredondo, Estella and Jerry McGill, Irene Guerrero, Manuela and George Arroyos, Francisco and Lavonne Herrera, Romalda Mejia; Manuel Herrera Jr.; step children Sammie Cortez, Tomasa Caplinger, and Estevan Cortez; 30 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emilio and C.A. Herrera; and many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents Eladio C. and Narcissa Herrera, his sisters Eloisa Hernandez and Teresa Centeno, and his son-in-laws Ricardo Guerrero and Jose Mejia. A special thank you to the Cambridge Health and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and support. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the Chapel of Davis- Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services for Manuel will be at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Needville on Wednesday, April 9 with a viewing starting at 9:00 and a mass celebrating his life at 10:30 a.m. Our beloved father will be laid to rest at the San Francisco Cemetery in Needville. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons Mark Anthony Herrera, Gabriel Donovan Herrera, Daniel Arredondo, Jaime Arredondo, David Dick and nephews Chris Herrera and Emilio Herrera, and son Manuel Herrera Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be his granddaughters Monica Herrera, Coreena Guerrero, Desiree Pena, Lisa K. Murillo, and Natalie M.Tobias. Memorial donations may be made to the San Francisco Cemetery Society Veterans Memorial Monument, P.O.
