Linda Goss Matheaus

LINDA GOSS MATHEAUS Linda Goss Matheaus, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother, was born on October 28, 1939, and passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, at 7:03 p.m. Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years, Bengene Matheaus Sr.; son, Curtis John Matheaus; son-in-law, Kelly Hair; and grandson, Nathan Matheaus and his wife Terri. She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Albert Goss; son, Bengene Matheaus Jr.; and her mother, Gertrude Earle Goss. Linda was a proud graduate of Lamar High School Graduating Class of 1958. She dedicated much of her professional life to banking, beginning her career at Fort Bend National Bank in Richmond, Texas. Through five bank name changes, Linda remained a loyal and hardworking employee, becoming Vice-President retiring from Wells Fargo Bank after decades of service. Linda was active in the Rosenberg-Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Fort Bend County Fair Livestock Auction, served on the Rosenberg Railroad Museum Board and was a Lifetime Member of the Fort Bend County Fair Association. Linda had a smile that could brighten any room. She was joyful, energetic, and full of life. She loved playing bingo and visiting the casino, but she treasured time spent with her family. A devoted animal lover, Linda had a special place in her heart for her fur babies. She was passionate about rescuing animals and gave many a loving home throughout her life, treating each pet as a true member of the family. Over the years, Linda enjoyed camping and fishing and was deeply involved in her children’s lives. She faithfully participated in band activities with her older son where she was President of the Lamar Consolidated Band Boosters Association and supported drama and choir events with her younger son. She proudly attended awards ceremonies and special events, including the 43rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards with her son Curtis when he was at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in Hollywood—an experience that made her feel like a “Queen for the Day.” In her later years, Linda found great joy in playing dominoes with her husband, going to bingo and spending time with those she loved. She also enjoyed her monthly outings with The Over-the-Hill Girls which included: Maxine Phelan, Lynette Cegelski, Kay Hext, Ruth Bryden and Mary Ann Matula. Pallbearers include Chad Vrana, Mason Vrana, Tommy Tucker, Bobby Sloan, Kelly Hair, and James Mullins. Honorary Pallbearer Blake Reid.
