Leroy Riedel

A funeral mass for Leroy Riedel, 82, of Richmond will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville with Father Joseph Phan officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., with a wake service followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Leroy was born on September 5, 1930 in Richmond, Texas to Frank and Minnie Kunz Riedel. He passed away at his residence in Richmond surrounded by his family on December 1, 2012. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Minnie Riedel and a daughter-in-law, Mary Riedel. Leroy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elenora Kumaga Riedel; children, Randy Riedel and wife, Carolyn, Karen Riner and husband, Donald, Sabrina Gann and husband, Michael; sisters, Florence Bullington , Rosalie Wooley and husband, Lee; grandchildren, Ashton Riedel, Skyla Riedel, Renee Cole and husband, Brian, Stephanie Riner and friend, Eva, Courtney Riner, Brian Kamman and wife, Deborah, Ashley Kamman and friend, Miguel, Michael Gann, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Riley Kamman and Megan Laas; along with other family and friends. Leroy served in the U.S. Army for four years and was stationed in Germany. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 42 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville for many years. Through the years, Leroy maintained a special relationship and served as a positive role model for his son, daughters, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Answering to "Paw Paw", he cherished every moment of time spent with family and friends. Leroy enjoyed God's gift of nature and the beautiful outdoors. He had many hobbies which included fishing, hunting, gardening and tending to his lawn. He enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, playing cards, and taking short weekend excursions to Louisiana to play slots. A week before his passing, he took his last trip to Coushatta with his family and had the time of his life, ending the evening with a "Bingo". Pallbearers will include Donald Riner, Michael Gann, Wade Kumaga, Mitch Anderson, Jim Sutphin and Armando Lomas. Memorial donations may be made in Leroy's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
