Lanny L. Brown

Lanny L Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 17, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on March 18, 1946, in Houston, Missouri, and resided in Needville, TX, at the time of his passing. Although a large school now, Lanny went to Union High School when it was a "country" school, graduating in 1965. He enlisted in the Air Force and serviced planes in the Vietnam conflict. Upon returning, Lanny studied at Oklahoma State University before beginning his career in drafting and engineering. Lanny was known for his sense of humor and had a passion for building things. He possessed an incredible ability to fix absolutely anything and worked on projects across the globe, having spent time on every continent except Antarctica. Lanny's remarkable skills earned him numerous accolades, including Shining Star awards for his work in the oil and gas industry and the prestigious Jacobs Master Builder award. Additionally, he imparted his knowledge by teaching piping classes at the Junior College level and received many other professional awards. When he wasn't immersed in his professional pursuits, Lanny found joy in simple pleasures. In his younger years, Lanny possessed a superpower of staying awake for days on end, fueled by coffee and cigarettes to complete his projects. Lanny enjoyed playing cards, watching his grandchildren participate in sports and music, and indulging in his favorite foods, which included pork rinds, jelly beans, banana pops, Mountain Dew, and mini chocolate donuts. Above all, Lanny cherished his family. He adored his wife of 53 years, Donna, and embraced the adventure of their many moves together. Lanny was a proud father to Amanda and Bobby (Amber), and a doting grandfather to Elijah, Jonah, Mia, as well as his two granddogs, Luna and Lucy. Lanny is preceded in death by his parents, Beulah Ulia Unis Creek Brown and Leo A. Brown, and siblings Larry Brown (Christine), Lonnie Brown, and LaRay Brown (Ann). His surviving siblings are Laura Welch, Linda Heathcock, Leatha (Jim). Although he wouldn't admit it, Lanny had an artistic side and didn't shy away from expressing his creativity. He designed plans for numerous home additions, never being satisfied with a lack of perfection. He found solace in a nap on the couch, his favorite place in the world and did everything in his power to get to his grandkids' ballgames. Later in life, he came to know Jesus, deepening his spiritual connection. Lanny L Brown leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
