Juan S. "Sal" Trevino

Juan Seledonio Trevino, affectionately known as “Sal” to his friends and loved ones, was born on December 3, 1996, in Richmond, Texas, to Veronica Becerra Trevino and Juan Trevino Jr. On July 22, 2025, Sal was called home to be with the Lord. Sal is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Guadalupe Flores. He leaves behind a loving family who will carry his memory forever: his devoted wife, Monica Reyes, and their cherished daughter, Saylor Clementine Trevino; his parents, Veronica Becerra Trevino and Juan Trevino Jr.; his siblings, Jasmine Trevino, Sebastian Trevino, and Ariana Casique; and his extended family, including his sister-in-law Elizabeth Trevino and nephew Sebastian “Doffy” Trevino—a special nickname given to him by his beloved Uncle Sal. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents, John Manuel Becerra and Yolanda Becerra, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he deeply loved. Sal graduated from B.F. Terry High School in 2015. A year later, he proudly committed himself to serving our country by joining the U.S. Army National Guard. His military service took him to many different places, where he made valuable friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. Many of those friends gather today to honor and remember him. Sal was known for his warm heart, infectious laugh, and one-of-a-kind charisma. He was a jokester and a lovable troublemaker who had the rare ability to make people laugh even in their toughest moments. Those who knew Sal remember him as warm, generous, and full of life. One of Sal’s favorite pastimes was fishing, especially when it meant some friendly competition with his dad and brother. He had a deep love for sports and was a loyal fan of the Houston Texans and the Toronto Blue Jays—often known to jokingly say, “How about them Jays, loser!” Sal also found great joy in cooking. His first proud culinary achievement was making two chicken pot pies, a moment his family still laughs about fondly. Over time, he became a talented home cook, often preparing delicious meals for those he loved. Sal had a true love for country music and dancing, and it was on the dance floor that he met the love of his life, Monica. From that first dance to many more that followed, two-stepping became one of their favorite ways to connect. As a father, Sal carried on that tradition with their daughter, Saylor. Whether it was in the living room or in the car, he treasured those moments—dancing with his girls brought him unmatched joy. But above all, becoming a father was Sal’s greatest joy. While the early days of parenthood had their challenges, Sal embraced fatherhood wholeheartedly and quickly learned that there was nothing more important than being a good dad. His love for country music lives on through Saylor, especially in their special song, “I Never Lie” by Zac Top, a tune she still sings today, keeping his memory alive. We will forever miss Sal’s sense of style, his quick wit, and his loving, larger-than-life spirit. But most of all, we will miss his heart—his unwavering love for his family, friends, and the moments that mattered most. His memory will live on in those he touched, especially in the beautiful life of his daughter, whose smile and voice reflect his love every day
