Joseph Sylvester Dirba

Graveside services for Joseph Sylvester Dirba, 77, of Lincoln, Texas will be held at 1:00 P..M., Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Monday, June 8, 2009 at Phillips and Lucky Funeral Home, 588 N Main St, Giddings, TX 78942 with a rosary beginning at 7:30 P.M. Joseph was born December 31, 1931 in Wallis, Texas to Joe and Annie Matocha Dirba. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having honorably served our country in the Army. Joseph went on to work at W.K.M. in Missouri City for 25 years. He moved his family to Lincoln and in 1981, started a 19 year career working for several oilfield wireline services. Joe went on to work for Derrick Rental Industry for 9 years, retiring in 1996. He married Victoria Kaluza on October 29, 1956 and to that union they had three daughters, Denise, Antoinette and Stephanie. Joseph was a proud member of the American Legion Post #276 in Giddings. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and wood work. He passed away June 5, 2009 in Austin, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 52 years, Victoria Kaluza Dirba; his parents, Joe and Annie Dirba, and his brother, Bennie Dirba. Joseph is lovingly survived by his daughters, Denise and Peter Veldhuisen of Lincoln, Texas, Antoinette Aggie and Paul Wukasch of New Braunfels, Texas, and Stephanie and Bill Boylen of Nederland, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua David Miles of Lincoln, Helen Elaine Wukasch, Amanda Ruth Wukasch, Joseph Aaron Wukasch, and Olivia Diane Wukasch all of New Braunfels; sisters, Annie Mae Berkenhoff and husband, Robert of Moutlon and Lucy Cunda and husband, George of El Campo; along with numerous other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Sump, John Derrick, Robert Berkenhoff, Joseph Wukasch, Joshua Miles and George Cunda, Jr. Memorials in Joseph's name may be made the Susan G.
