John Edward Kalisek

John Edward Kalisek, 94, of Rosenberg, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 15, 1931, in Shiner, Texas, John grew up working diligently on the family farm. He later built a distinguished career, first as a supervisor at the MAY Aluminum Plant in Houston and El Campo for 20 years, followed by 25 years of dedicated service as a driver with the Texas Department of Transportation in Rosenberg. John found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed collecting antiques, cherished fishing trips with his family, and held a lifelong passion for music—particularly country and polka. He delighted many by playing the accordion with skill and enthusiasm. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Kalisek; brothers Frank, Laddie, and Daniel; and sisters Emilie, Mildred, Anita, and Eugenia, John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carolyn Kalisek; their devoted son, John Edward Kalisek Jr.; son-in-law, Ken Gray; sister Josephine Novak; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends throughout Houston and across the state of Texas. A faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, John served as a dedicated volunteer, contributing generously to his faith community. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and physical therapists who provided exceptional care to John over the years, including staff at Methodist, Memorial Hermann, and Encompass Rehabilitation. A public viewing and rosary will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd., Rosenberg, Texas, with the rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1416 George Street, Rosenberg, Texas. John will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his steadfast dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. May he rest in eternal peace.
