Joanne A. Anderson Our dear mother, grandmother, wife and friend passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2020. While we are terribly saddened by her sudden death we are left with cherished memories of her glowing smile, effervescent personality and beautiful sense of style. Joanne was born on September 14, 1935 in Elgin, Texas to George G. And Eathel (Falls) Abrahamson. She attended Austin High School and The University of Texas at Austin. She married Raymond H. Anderson Jr. (Pat) on July 2, 1955 and they lived in Corpus Christi, San Antonio and McAllen before making their home of 47 years in Richmond. Joanne was a vibrant member of The Richmond Garden Club, The Rosenberg Women’s Club, Ft. Bend Museum Docents, various bridge clubs and dinner clubs as well as a long time member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Richmond. She always loved to travel and especially enjoyed nurturing her own garden and sharing cuttings with friends. Mostly, Joanne loved entertaining her family and friends and making those gatherings memorable and special. Her impromptu cocktail parties were her favorite! Joanne is survived by her daughter, Jana, and her husband Mark of Houston and daughter, Kay, of Allen; granddaughter, Courtney, and grandson, Justin, and his wife, Laura Lea, of Dallas; and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law Bruce Petty. Please join us on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020 for a Celebration of Joanne’s Life from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the State Room of Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The State Room is limited to 30 guests at a time and facial coverings must be worn at all times in the building. Our family will always be grateful for the kind words and assistance from all those wonderful friends closest to our mother.
