Joan Rose Jakubenas

Joan Jakubenas, 75, of Rosenberg, passed away on March 25, 2015 at her home with her family by her side after a long struggle with cancer. She was born in Fussville, WI on January 28, 1940 to Sylvester and Elenore Claas. Joan was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond. Joan dedicated her life to caring for others. She graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du lac, WI Class of '61 as a registered nurse and worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee. In addition to caring for her own children, Joan was a foster parent to over 40 special needs newborns over a span of 25 years, while the family lived in Erie, PA and Corpus Christi, TX. Even with all the children her home was always spotless and no one ever left hungry. This loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend will truly be missed. Joan is preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Charles and Richard Claas. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Peter Jakubenas; children, Kevin Jakubenas, Lee Jakubenas and wife, Heather, Kara Good and husband, Richard, and Gina Herring and husband, William; and Mark Munoz; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Ella and Sophia Jakubenas, Silas and Isaac Good, and Caitlin, Noah and Hannah Herring; siblings, Sister Catherine Manning OSB, Cy Claas, Victor Claas, James Claas, Elaine Justman, Helen Schrott and Mary Starck; Sisters-in-law Merrilyn Nehls, Diane Claas, Marge Tolan, Meredith Gordon, and special friends Patricia and Ezequiel Munoz along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 29, 2015 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral mass will take place at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2015 in the Chapel of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond with burial following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
