Jimmy Lee Green

Jimmy Lee Green, 87, of Rosenberg, passed away on November 15, 2013. He was born on June 19, 1926, in Dayton, Texas, to William Hardy Green and Willie Thelma Short Green. He graduated from Barbers Hill High School in 1943. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1944 and served stateside during the end of World War II. He had various jobs until he started his career in the oil field with Moore Petroleum in 1951 and continued there until his retirement in 1986. He met Joyce Richardson Green in 1975 and they were married in 1981. He worked hard to support his family, and in his spare time, he piddled in his shop where he loved woodworking and refinishing furniture. He built his first home himself, from the ground up, and later helped construct his son's home in Conroe. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Leona and Frances; two sons, Danny Green and Ronnie Green; and grandson, Jeff Green. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Green; his sister, Billie Katherine Fertner of Oklahoma; sons, David Green and his wife, Brenda of Latexo; and Randy Green and his wife, Susie of Conroe; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Green of Conroe; sons, Bobby Anderson and wife, Jill; and Mitch Anderson and wife, Pauline of Rosenberg; daughters, Barbie Daniels and husband, Pete; and Becky Colunga and husband, Sonny of Needville; sister-in-laws, Gloria Tatum and Laura Smith of Alabama. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. The family would like to thank the staff of Memorial Hermann Hospital in Sugar Land, Doctors Stanley Thompson, Dale Faulkner, and James McClamroch, and his caregivers, Maria Candidatu, Bonnie Munoz, and Andy Munoz. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 17, from 4:00-7:00 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
