Gilbert A. Novosad

Gilbert A. Novosad, 62, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Houston, TX. He was born December 11, 1944 to Rudolph Novosad and Adela Cordes Novosad in Wharton, TX. Gilbert graduated from Needville High School and worked for Sears for 28 years until ill health forced his retirement. He served in the Texas National Guard. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, and the Knights of Columbus # 2801 in Rosenberg. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Adela Novosad; brothers, John Novosad and Lad Novosad; and a sister, Jane Scheel. He was also preceded by several brothers-in-law, Ervin Meyer, Lawrence Pete Wieghat, Bill Sekula, Tom Jackson, George Scheel, John Janecek and Roy Sabrsula. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joyce Novosad; Son: Chris Novosad of San Antonio; Daughter: Amy Shockey of Richmond; Grandchildren: Kayla and Mason Shockey; Coker Novosad; Sisters: Lillian Steffek and husband, Jerry, of Needville; Rosalie Meyer of Columbus; Dorothy Wieghat of Needville; Marie Sekula of Shiner; Addie Jackson of Cedar Park; Sisters in-law: Lori Novosad of Needville; Judy Janecek Kimrey of Richmond; Carolyn Sabrsula of Beasley; Bessie Novosad of Wharton; Along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. A Funeral Mass will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, April 19, 2007 in the Chapel of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Father Howard Drabek will officiate the services. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 P.M., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 18, 2007 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will include Michael Novosad, Rodney Wieghat, Russell Sekula, Matthew Jackson, Jon Sabrsula, Jeff Janecek, Stephen Janecek and Tim Sabrsula. Honorary Pallbearers will include Roby Tate, Carlyn Spies, Tony DeLeon, Darrell Shockey and Ron Gutowsky. Memorials can be made in Gilberts name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Building Fund, 507 South 4th Street, Richmond, Texas 77469.
