Emanuel David Kocian "Sonny"

Emanuel David Kocian, fondly known as “Sonny”, 76, passed away on December 7, 2024. Emanuel was born August 31, 1948, in Wharton, Texas to Emanuel Kocian and Lottie (Bujnoch) Kocian. He worked for Schlumberger Technology Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He lived in Rosenberg for 42 years before moving to Boling in 2010 to enjoy the country life. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and taking trips to the beach. Emanuel loved listening to music, raising his cattle, talking about old times, riding in his Ranger around his neighborhood and visiting with neighbors. Emanuel is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Betty Smajstrla Kocian, his parents, brothers, Leroy Kocian and Clarence Kocian, sister, Leona Kocian Boone and son-in-law, Terry Newman. He is survived by his children, Jennifer Kocian Rychlik and husband, Rob, Pamela Kocian Kveton-Newman, and Matthew Kocian; grandchildren, Travis Rychlik and wife, Maggie, Janna Rychlik Kalinowski and husband, Cody, Sarah Kveton, Jessica Kveton and Steven Kveton; sisters, Mary Alice Machicek (Joe), Gladys Machicek, Joan Gulling, Katherine Paul, Theresa Hundl (Gilbert); sisters-in-law, Delores Kocian and Sophia Kocian; brothers, George Kocian (Bernice) and Ervin Kocian (Gloria); along with extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2024 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville followed by burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Pallbearers will include his nephews, Leroy Kocian Jr., Kenneth Kocian, Joseph Machicek, Michael Machicek, Scott Kocian, and Adam Kocian. Honorary Pallbearers include Travis Rychlik, Janna Kalinowski, Sarah Kveton, Jessica Kveton and Steven Kveton.
