Dwight Gaddis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dwight Gaddis, who left us peacefully on Nov 5, 2024. Dwight was born on March 4, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan. At a young age, he moved to Franklin, Indiana, with his brother Dave and sister Judy. He was a talented athlete who quickly developed a passion for baseball. His enthusiasm for the game was evident throughout his youth, becoming a lifelong joy. Dwight pursued higher education at Flordia Southern College, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He then pursued an MBA from the University of Madison at Wisconsin. Armed with his degrees, he embarked on a distinguished career as an accountant. He proudly served in the US Army Reserves, exemplifying his commitment to service and country while beginning his career in Finance. Dwight served as the Director of Petroleum Accounting at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX, from 1990-1994, where he enhanced his expertise in the oil and gas industry by serving as a global subject matter expert, teaching courses from the United States to London, Nigeria, and beyond. From 1995 to 2018, he enjoyed a successful career in the oil and gas field, where he spent many years working as a Controller and ultimately serving as CFO for private exploration and production companies. Throughout this time, he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. In retirement, Dwight cherished spending time with his beloved wife, Susan, and their dogs, Max, Dixie, Heart, and Aaron. His days were filled with love, laughter, and the simple joys of life. Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Susan, son Brian, stepson Jeremy, brother Dave, sister Judy, and grandchildren Stella, Lainey, and Evan. A memorial service will be held on Nov 21, 2024, at David Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, TX, to celebrate the life of Dwight Gaddis. Dwight, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy of love, dedication, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew and loved you. Rest in peace.
